Microsoft Exchange 2003 Email Server  is being rolled out

As you may be aware, the UCC email system has been upgraded from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003. Over the coming months all UCC staff will have been migrated to the new email server. Some chemistry staff members have already been moved. There are some important facts to be aware of: Outlook 2007 is not compatible with Exchange 5.5, so before upgrading to Microsoft Office 2007 (available since April) from a previous Office version make sure that your email has been moved to the new Exchange 2003 server. If you send an email to, your request will then be passed on to the Computer Centre.

These are the main differences between the two email servers:

New Microsoft Exchange 2003 Email Server

Old Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Email Server

The changeover should cause no interruption to your email, just be aware that your new username is msexchange\username.
