2nd November 2006: What a surprise, Prof. Guilbault 70th birthday party at the Hayfield Manor.
31st October 2006: The Dell computer Laboratory, lab121, will close on Monday 6th November. All facilities will then be available in the Datalogging laboratory, lab 120, outside of practical hours (which are usually 2-5 or 3-6 in the afternoon). Furthermore the Intel lab (Block A, level 3, Room 355, Food Science Building) is available outside of teaching hours, see timetable.

15th September 2006: Donna Arnold (UCC) won 1st prize in the young researcher category as an invited speaker at The Rank Prize Fund on "Electro-optic Nanostructured Arrays” international conference in the Lake-district in the UK. Title was Functional Oxide Nanowires. A major achievement, congratulations.
15th September 2006: Forensic Science have launched their first website.

Colaiste an Spioraid Naoimh
came to view MS, HPLC, GC, IR and UV instrumentation in the Kane and
Cavanagh Buildings in preparation of their leaving certificates. Thanks to
the 5 instrument demonstrators Mick O'Shea, Norma Scully, Jose Sebastian,
Dawn Griffin and Donal O'Leary and to the 5 technicians Rose Causer,
Terry Horgan, Pat O'Connell, Donnacha O'Connell and Denis Duggan
who escorted the students.

8th May 2006: The 1st European Chemistry Congress takes place in Budapest, Hungary, 27-31 August 2006. A Special Scientific Session on ‘Miniaturised Chemical Systems: The application of micro fluidics to chemical and biochemical processing’ will be held on Wednesday 30 August 2006. For more information on this satellite event, contact Prof. J. Glennon, secretary of the EuCheMS Working Party on Chemistry in Microsystems.
